There isn’t much of a comparison when it comes to the Bose QuietComfort 35 II and the Bose QuietComfort 45. This is because these two headphones are very similar in their design and features. However, this doesn’t mean that either of them is worse. They are both amazing headphones that feature great Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). They are also both really comfortable headsets that are fit for travelers.

So what really is the difference between these two headsets? After all, they were released four years apart from each other. Let’s go over some features and see how these two compare head-to-head!

Design - QuietComfort 35 II vs. QuietComfort 45

Both the headphones are similarly designed and have the same durability and sturdiness but neither one of the two is water resistent. They can both fold to lay flat on a table, or completely fold up to put inside the protective case.

Look-wise, it is clear that both these headphones are related to each other because of how similar their designs are. But the newer version has slight design changes which build upon the shape of the previous headphone.

For example, the QC 35 had slots for the microphone which were replaced by a pattern of dots in the newer version. It also has a bunch of hardware improvements like the addition of USB-C port in replacement of the Micro USB.

There were some design features that were carried over from the QC 35 to 45 like the placement of their power controls which can be found on the right ear cup on both of them. Both headphones also have an action button on the back of the left earcup that performs similar tasks.

On QC 35, the action button changes between the noise cancellation modes, while on the QC 45 it also toggles between an added function called the Aware mode.

Aware Mode

This feature is missing from the old model and can only be found in the QC 45. This is the audio passthrough feature that allows the user to listen to the surroundings without taking off the headphones.

Battery Life

The QuietComfort 45 has a longer battery life than the QuietComfort 35. The newer one has a battery life of 24 hours and 49 minutes while the older one lasts for 21 hours and 12 minutes. This is also complimented by the fact that the QC 45 has a more modern USB C charging port which charges much faster than the previous one. Charging the QC 45 for 15 minutes can give you 180 minutes of playtime, while the QC 35 charged for the same amount of time will give you 150 minutes of playtime.

Color Choices

Both these headphones are available in a variety of colors, however, the QC 45 has more color options than 35. The QuietComfort 35 is available in Black, Silver, and Peach.

The QuietComfort 45 is available in Black, Midnight Blue, Eclipse Gray, and White Smoke.

Which One Is Better? QuietComfort 35 II Or QuietComfort 45

The QuietComfort 45 reigns supreme with a better build design, active noise cancellation, and battery life. Although the sound quality is sort of similar on both the headphones, you would be better off purchasing the newer model of the Bose QuietComfort headphones!
