Step-by-Step: How to Replace the Headband Pad on Your Sony WH-XB910N
Step 1 — Remove the Bracket Screws
Using the included screwdriver, unscrew the screws holding the bracket in place on each side of the headband. There are four screws total — two on each side.
Tip: Once removed, set the screws aside somewhere safe. You’ll need these same screws to install the new pad.
Step 2 — Remove the Old Headband Pad
Using scissors or a sharp knife, carefully cut through the old headband pad material to remove it. Work slowly and be careful not to cut the wires running underneath the pad.
Step 3 — Prep the New Headband Pad
Take the new headband pad and separate the two pieces of material that are velcroed together, then unwrap it.
Step 4 — Position the New Pad
Start with the underside of the headband and wrap the pad around from there. The foam portion should end up on the bottom, facing your head.
Step 5 — Secure the Adhesive Tabs
The new pad has adhesive on both the top side and underside. Remove the backing from the top side first and tuck that tab underneath the plastic bracket. Then remove the backing on the underside and press that tab into place so it doesn’t shift around.
Tip: Press firmly along each tab for a few seconds after placing it — this helps the adhesive bond fully so it doesn’t lift later.
Step 6 — Reinstall the Bracket
Reattach the same bracket you removed in Step 1, using the same four screws to secure it on both sides. Once both brackets are screwed back in, you’re done — the new headband pad is installed.
