Step 1: Find the Model Number on Your Headset
The fastest and most reliable way to identify your Corsair headset is to locate the model number printed directly on the hardware. Corsair places this information in a few consistent locations:
Check the Headband or Ear Cup
Flip one of the ear cups upside down or look along the inner edge of the headband. Most Corsair headsets feature a small printed label or embossed text listing the full model name (e.g., HS80 RGB WIRELESS or VOID ELITE RGB). Good lighting or a phone camera zoom helps with the small text.
Check the USB Dongle
Wireless Corsair headsets ship with a USB receiver dongle. The dongle usually carries a part number on a sticker on its underside — this can be cross-referenced on Corsair's support site to confirm compatibility.
Check the Original Packaging
If you still have the box, the model name will be prominently printed on the front and sides — along with a part number (e.g., CA-9011188-NA), which is the most precise identifier when searching for replacement parts.
Use iCUE Software (PC Only)
Open Corsair's iCUE software and navigate to the connected devices panel — iCUE will display the exact model name. Especially useful for wireless headsets where physical labels may have worn off over time.
Step 2: Decode the Name
Corsair uses a consistent naming system that, once understood, makes model identification much more intuitive. Here's how to read a Corsair headset name:
The HS Series — Corsair's Everyday Champion
The HS line is Corsair's workhorse: durable, multi-platform, and spanning a wide price range from around $35 to $130+. All HS headsets share a similar over-ear plastic design with a floating headband, but differ significantly in features and connectivity.
The entry point to the HS line. Wired only via 3.5mm or USB. Lightweight plastic build with leatherette ear pads and a non-detachable boom microphone. Available in multiple colors. The v2 added refined driver tuning. No RGB, no wireless — the simplest model to identify.
A step up from the HS35 with a more refined sound profile. Available wired (3.5mm/USB) and wireless (2.4GHz + Bluetooth). The wireless version offers up to 24 hours of battery life and supports multi-device Bluetooth pairing — identifiable by its USB-A dongle.
The HS65 introduced virtual Dolby 7.1 surround sound in its "Surround" USB configuration. The Wireless variant adds 2.4GHz and up to 20 hours of battery life. A popular mid-range choice for console and PC gamers — if you have a Surround suffix, it's USB-only wired.
An older-generation wireless headset still widely owned. Uses a 2.4GHz USB dongle with no RGB lighting. The Pro version added improved memory foam ear cushions. If your headset is wireless with no lighting and a small USB dongle, it may well be an HS70.
A specialized variant built for Xbox, connecting natively via Xbox Wireless — no dongle required. Identifiable by the "XB" suffix and an Xbox button on the ear cup. Works with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles wirelessly out of the box.
The HS80 is a premium wireless headset with Dolby Atmos support and a high-quality omni-directional flip-to-mute microphone. The HS80 MAX adds Bluetooth connectivity, extended battery, and an open-back audio option. If yours has a slotted grille on the ear cup, it's the MAX open-back variant.
The VOID Series — Built for Long Sessions
VOID headsets are identifiable by their large, distinctive rounded ear cups with a pronounced circular design. Higher-end models feature the illuminated CORSAIR logo in RGB. The VOID line is especially popular with glasses wearers due to its wide, deep ear cups and relaxed clamping force.
The original VOID and VOID Pro are older-generation headsets still in wide circulation. Metal frame, 50mm drivers, RGB lighting on the ear cup logo. Available wired (USB) and wireless. The Pro added microfiber mesh cushions for breathability vs. the original's leatherette.
The VOID Elite updated the line with a redesigned omni-directional flip-to-mute microphone, improved ear cushions, and full iCUE RGB integration. Available in wired USB and 2.4GHz wireless. Supports PC and PS4/PS5. One of the most common Corsair headsets you'll encounter — if it has a large glowing logo and flip mic, this is likely it.
The latest evolution of the VOID line. Features simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio, AI-powered microphone noise reduction, and an industry-leading battery of up to 130 hours via Bluetooth. Also available in an officially licensed Xbox variant.
The Virtuoso Series — Corsair's Flagship Audio
Virtuoso headsets are visually distinct from any other Corsair line: premium metal construction (aluminum and steel), memory foam leatherette ear pads, and a more audiophile-inspired aesthetic. If your headset feels noticeably heavier and more refined than a typical gaming headset, it's almost certainly a Virtuoso.
The original flagship wireless model. Connects via 2.4GHz USB dongle. Features 50mm custom-tuned drivers, a broadcast-quality detachable microphone, and premium memory foam cushions. Available in carbon and white colorways. If your Virtuoso lacks Bluetooth, this is the standard version.
The Special Edition features gunmetal/silver aesthetics, a braided USB charging cable, and premium ear cup accessories. Functionally identical to the standard RGB Wireless — if yours has a silver-accented finish and braided cable, it's the SE.
The XT added Bluetooth alongside 2.4GHz, allowing connection to phones and tablets without a dongle. Also added Audeze REVEAL+ audio tuning software integration. If your Virtuoso connects to your phone directly, it's the XT.
A departure from typical gaming design. The Virtuoso Pro is a wired, open-back headset with 50mm graphene drivers creating a natural, airy soundstage. Targeted at streamers and content creators. Identifiable by the visible mesh grille on the outside of the ear cups.
Corsair's most advanced headset to date. The Virtuoso MAX adds wireless connectivity to the graphene drivers, plus active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency mode, Dolby Atmos, and Sonarworks SoundID personalization. If your Virtuoso has ANC, it's the MAX.
Pro Tip: The easiest single visual tell between the three lines — HS headsets have a simple floating headband. VOID headsets have large, distinctive round ear cups with the CORSAIR wordmark lit up. Virtuoso headsets feel heavier and have a premium metal finish with a thicker, cushioned headband.
