- Heat gun on a low setting
- Small flathead screwdriver
- Small Phillips screwdriver
- Adhesive to reseal the cover
Step-by-Step: How to Replace the Powerbeats3 Ear Hook
Step 1: Heat the cover
Warm the cover with a heat gun on low, keeping it moving from side to side, to soften the adhesive.
Tip: Keep the heat moving so you don’t damage the plastic.
Step 2: Pry off the cover
Pry the cover off with your fingernail. If it won’t budge, add a little more heat.
Step 3: Lift out the battery
Use a small flathead to pry the battery up a little, then gently pull it out. Keep the wires connected.
Step 4: Remove the screw
Unscrew the screw that was under the battery with a small Phillips screwdriver.
Step 5: Remove the broken ear hook
Pull out the broken ear hook piece. A little heat helps loosen it. Scrape out any old adhesive.
Step 6: Install the new ear hook
Insert the new ear hook so it sits snug, then put the screw back in.
Step 7: Close it up
Set the battery back in place, clean off excess adhesive, apply fresh adhesive and press the cover back on.
