CentralSound Premium Replacement Ear Pad Cushions for Beyerdynamic DT 770 DT990 PRO DT 770 PRO DT 880 PRO DT 990 - 100mm

I bought new ear pad cushions, along with a replacement headstrap cushion, for my pair of discontinued Beyerdynamic gamer headphones, and let me just say what a joy it is to have this headset back again. The most difficult of the whole process was tracking down specifics about my "historical" headset from Beyerdynamic, as most info has been wiped from the site. El-oh-el? Once I had some manufacturing specs, it was easy to order the replacement components from Central Sound, and everything arrived shortly thereafter in some pretty cool and unique packaging. They offer tutorial videos on how to change the pads and cushions, so you're not going in to it blind, and the whole process was much easier than I anticipated.

I'm relieved and genuinely heartened to discover someone addressing the issue of preventable e-waste with solutions like Central Sound offers. I don't WANT to throw out something that still works, and gratefully, now I don't have to! I can enjoy game time with long-distance family again, and I no longer have to deal with black flecks of foam or disintegrating fake-leather in my hair and all over my ears. The cooling gel seems really effective, and I'm back to "accidentally" logging four or five hours again with no headset discomfort at all. Granted, I don't have any personal science to back it up, just some pretty strong vibes, so take that for what it's worth. In MY book, it's quite significant, but your results might vary. Will I be ordering from Central Sound regularly? I expect I won't be, because these replacement components are well-made and seem pretty durable. But even these, too, will eventually wear down, and when that day comes, there is only one place that I will turn to: Central Sound

So, there you have it! Five stars for meeting a critically important, "niche" need for those of us concerned with combating unnecessary e-waste, and for doing so with high-quality replacement components! Also, Central Sound is located in Illinois, which is, arguably, the best state ever. Go Sox, and go Central Sound!

They are excellent, really comfortable and I fell like they improved the sound a bit, making it more "clean", they were actually easier to put than what i thought they would be, bought both protein leather and cooling gel, the last ones feels really good, the cloth it's really soft, and the gel feels good on contact, but i will be saving them for the summer, the leather ones are a bit thicker than the cooling gel ones, so wish that the cooling gel were thicker as well but for the price they are extremely good!

Great fit, great comfort, they also assist in improving he over all sound of the headphones a little.

I would highly recommend these replacements.

For me the issue has always been that my ears were a little too big to fit in the regular ones, this problem is now fixed!

They are thicker than the stock pads so your headphones will be tighter. High quality. feels good , easy install , fast delivery to finland

Works great! 2 caveats to the original BD ear pads:
1. These pads are more noise cancelling (hard to hear people calling you around the house)
2. The cooling pads work but heat up within 10 minutes. Don't expect them to say cold.
Overall good replacement pads, provided the above doesn't bother you.

Definitely a good upgrade from the stock ear pads that come with the DT-770 pros.

I just replaced my worn out earpads with this pair and it was easy to install and seems to work just as good as the old ones.

I like these a lot. The are taller than the original ones giving my big ears room. The ONE thing I’d like better is if they were vented one way or another. They originals were cloth type and these are closer to leather. They get hot kinda quick. I have closed back headphones so I understand there is that, but the originals never really got all that warm.

I would've taken them a little deeper (like 0.25-0.5 inch deeper) and they would have been perfect. They are already really good and comfortable as they are, they conform well. They remain comfortable, even when my ears become hotter after more than a hour of use (like all closed back headphones), but I feel like they eventually hurt a bit one of my ears when the foam gets squeezed enough (but it could also be because of the headphone themselves and my small head). Other than that they are much better than the original leather pads that come with the headphones. Also, the mesh is pretty unnecessary with the ear pads for the DT770 Pro since it already has a mesh integrated on the headphones.

Ended up getting them a day earlier than expected. Took about five minutes to put the replacements on & immediately could feel the difference over the OEM fabric pads. They're definitely comfortable!

They got here super quick, no redundant packaging which I like; cuts down on waste that would otherwise just end up directly in trash

Had these on my headphones for a few weeks now. Cooling gel is definitely nice and and the foam is a good balance of plush, structure and audio quality. These are just a little thicker than stock; which is exactly what I needed to keep my ears from rubbing on the earcup housings.

I am using these on MMX 300 Gen 2. Install was easy and didn't need tools. There is a small amount of extra material on the lip as others have mentioned but it does not affect the aesthetics in my opinion and has no impact on comfort. The extra material makes it much easier to install so I will take that trade off.

Time will tell how soon the leather will peel, but for the price buying a replacement is cheaper than buying them from BD

After the 15-minute struggle to get the earpads on I tried on the headphones, and...
I had an out-of-body experience rivaling the Doctor Strange butterfly scene.
The pho-leather is soft like the seat of a luxury car.
The foam isn't as plush as a memory foam pillow, but still has a lovely squishy feeling on the head, and got rid of the pressure points I had on the OEM leather earpads that came with the dt 770s (there are two versions of dt 770 earpads, velour, and leather, the OEM leather ones are hot garbage only fit to be consumed by lower class goats.)

When fitting the earpads onto the headphones it gets frustrating, and it feels like you might damage the earpads, but they are surprisingly durable, so you need not worry.

The excess fitting ring material slightly reduces the range of motion on the earphone's up and down swivel, but most people's heads aren't the shape of a triangle so it doesn't affect anything

the reduced visual appeal is subjective, and I don't mind the excess fitting material.

These pads can be used with the DT 700 Pro X if you are willing to forgo the use of the velour pads that come with the headphones. You have to remove the plastic ring that is glued to the velour material. You can then either glue the ring to the back of the CentralSound pads or, as I did, put the ring within the material on the back of the CentralSound pads. If positioned to where the the plastic part of the ring that sticks up isn't covered by any material, you should be able to click the secondary ring in place and then attach to the headphones.

The CentralSound pads are thicker and cooler than the velour pads, especially if worn for long periods. Since they are thicker they will add some clamping force if you have a large head but it was helpful for me as my headphones were nearly falling off my head with the velour pads. The pads were a bit stiff out of the box but pressing on them a few times over the first few days broke them in and now they're soft and comfortable. Outside noise is blocked more and sound quality is better but this is likely due to the headphones fitting better on me and might be negligible for others.

These pads were definitely worth the experiment to see if I could get them to work with the DT 700 Pro X as my headphones are much more comfortable now.
