Even tho I had to send my XM5 to repair, finding out about the reinforcement for the headphones, I do wish I knew then before purchaseing them.

That broken hinge really ruined my 8 hour trip on train back home, since chilling with my XM5's was the best part of the train ride. Riding the train way back home, it was too quiet and boring without my XM5, since the hinge was broken.

They do feel strong enough and I feel happy about it. I don’t think it takes less than 5 or 10 to install, since I had to watch the turorial multiple times to know if I did my installation right, which is a reason why I gave this a 4 out of 5.

I've had my Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones for a few years without any issue until a month ago when I came home from a party, attempted to put them on, and felt that they didn't sit right on my right ear. I took them off and saw the right hinge had cracked open...I nearly broke into tears. I'm autistic, and these noise-cancelling headphones have been a genuine life saver and a key tool for me to cope with the world when it's too much. I wasn't about to either spend around $100 to ship them away for an extended period of time to get them repaired by Sony, or spend hundreds of dollars buying a new pair when the pair I have still worked perfectly fine despite the crack. I saw this kit and thought I would give it a try, and I'm so glad I did. This kit is incredibly easy to install: all of the pieces are provided for you (including a screwdriver with a magnetic tip to help grab and hold the tiny screws, plus a spare screw if you needed one!), and CentralSound has an installation tutorial on YouTube that I followed along with (though it isn't an incredibly thorough and detailed walkthrough, I had to replay some sections multiple times and scrutinize my screen to make sure I was using the correct pieces in the correct places). The only drawback I have with the kit is that if you wear your headphones on your head on the shortest setting (with the extendable arms all the way inside) like I did, this kit will add on a tiny bit of length (somewhere around 1 centimeter at most) that makes them unable to sit that way on your head again and feel a bit loose and heavy on your ears. I managed to work around this by crocheting myself a cover for the top bridge of the headphones (the piece that sits on your head) in my favorite color so that I could get that tiny bit of width to let the headphones sit comfortably on my ears again, and it worked out perfectly! So, be prepared for that if you wear your headphones like I did, and be prepared to find a work-around. The turning feature on the headphones also still works, albeit a bit stiffer than before, and the pieces have a slightly rougher texture than the rest of the headphones, but it's so worth it for the knowledge that my headphones are both repaired and given additional protection in this problem area. Great pieces, went on well, look like they're OEM. Strengthen the hinges 100x. I also replaced the ear pads. I now have brand new Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones.

I installed the headband hinge for both sides of my XM5's. One side had a crack that had the can hanging by the wire. Both sides work great now, super reinforced, working better than new. I was really really impressed. When I discovered the crack I assumed I would be doing some bench work to get it all rewired and replaced. This kit dodged that bullet and it looks like there's no chance of it ever happening again. Install was super quick, under 5 minutes for both sides. I didn't even finish the YouTube video. I needed the first minute or so and the rest came naturally. 10/10

My wh-1000XM5s have broken completely on one side and left dangling by the inner cords. I was almost ready to buy a new pair of headphones until I discovered these.

I honestly bought them in a panic and during the wait I had my doubts that it would fix something that had completely broken off. But when I got them I was completely wrong, these things have saved my headphones and my gaming sessions! I am very happy with these and the pad cushion upgrades

The plastic feels durable and holds the hinge well. I bought the headphones used for supercheap and applied the hinge holder before it broke. I just hope the rest of the plastic doesn't break. Thanks to CS for the quality investment.

Sorry for the delay in writing this review. The CS Parts Repair Kit for the Sony WH-1000XM5 worked incredibly well. It's amazing how a pair of $500 headphones can break so easily, but thanks to your repair kit, I was able to complete the repair in about 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, the damage to the right hinge on my headphones was more extensive than what the CS part was designed to address, so that specific issue is still not fully fixed. Even so, the repair kit performed exactly as intended and significantly improved the condition of my headphones.

I’m so incredibly grateful for this fix. I’m autistic and these headphones have made my life so much easier, being able to cancel out background noise makes it so I am able to go in public much more than I was before I got these headphones. I cried when the hinge snapped in my sleep and this kit saved my headphones!!! Without it I would be screwed! Thank you so much for this fix :)

After buying the XM6 when my XM5 broke I came across this on YouTube. I was devastated and poorer. The repair restored my xm5s to like new. Now I have 2 great headphones. For home & work. Thank You Central sound.co

Just buy this if you have these Sony headphones. It's not a matter of if, but when you'll need it. It's a terrible design by Sony, but this repair kit makes them either usable again or will protect you against having to buy it later when you will need it. Product quality is fantastic too. Fairly straightforward assembly process as well. I can't recommend this enough.

This repair kit is a must have for the Sony WH-1000XM5. I suggest not to wait the headphones break at the weak points which is at the hinges. The repair kit was definitely easy to install. It took a bit of fidgeting around to get it to fit in place properly but once you get it on there, it's great. I will make one major suggestion prior to or after installation, make sure to turn the headphones a few times to get rid of the that "rough" feeling when trying to adjust them.

If you do buy your Sony WH1000XM5 pick these up and install them right away. Also get a proper case for the headphones as well.
