Replacement Side Cover Slider Part UPGRADE KIT for Sony MDR-1000X WH-1000XM2 Headphones

Great product, saving me a bunch of money on potentially replacing these excellent headphones!

On my MDR-1000X I broke the Right slider, very close to the swivel. The CentralSound replacement is pleasingly easy to remove and replace (their YouTube instructional videos are instrumental in making this a quick and easy operation).

The replacement parts are a flat black (non-reflective) color and appear to be more rugged and robust than the original pieces. The kit includes a small Phillips head screwdriver, a pry-tool that looks like a guitar pick, and screws.

The replacements are sturdy and easy to install on my MDR-1000X. There are 2 reasons for 4 stars.

First, my kit came with only a triwing screwdriver despite the screws on the headphones and replacement screws being standard Philips heads. Support told me that this was likely a mistake when assembling the kits. Fortunately I have an iFixit kit with the right size screwdriver that I could use instead.

Second, the adjustment sliders on the replacement kit are significantly looser than my OEM MDR-1000X side covers. Often times when I pick up or set the headphones down, the sliders can slip and I need to readjust the length. Fortunately they do not slip when on my head, so this is only a minor inconvenience

I highly recommend this replacement kit. It's my second time buying because I have two pairs of MDR-1000X. The first replacement kit is still going strong using them daily at work the past three years. The second kit will get a tougher treatment due to modifying with deeper earpads. We'll see if I ever need to buy a new kit but I doubt it because these ones are more rigid at the weak point of the original Sony design.

The new pieces seems to be be more sturdy than the originals, only time will tell. Overall i am really happy i will be able to use the headphones hopefully for another couple of years.

It worked great. Unfortunately from us I had to pay customs to Europe that basically doubled the price, but I am happy to have repaired my headphones

I’m really pleased to have found replacement side covers for my 9‑year‑old Sony headphones. They’re still working perfectly, and it would’ve been a shame to replace them just because of a broken side cover.

I was dreading having to shell out another $300 for a set of Sony WH-1000xm2 headphones.
The replacement kit was easy to use and worth every dollar.

I've had these headphones for almost 10 years. Both of the sliders on my headphones had broken and was causing my headphones to not fit my head and the noise canceling wasn't as good. These were so easy to swap out and have given me hope that I'll get another 10 years out of these headphones.

- Delivery somewhat long to Finland, Europe (5 weeeks including the the customs)
- Good instructions (thou not needed because of simple design) and tools

Very easy to replace broken side cover slider. Replacement seems sturdier than original.

These were easy to replace and seem to be good quality. Hopefully, they hold up better than the OEM parts.

The directions were great. I was able to make the repair very easily.

Good quality but a litel to loos but when putting headphone on its work’s. Easier and cheaper instead of buying a new one

It is a bit looser than expected, but works well and as advertised.

These replacement sliders will keep my old Sonys alive, and for that I am grateful. But the fit and finish is a far stretch from the OEM parts. They feel cheap and like a downgrade from the original:
The sliders are loose.
There is a 3/32" gap between the pivot and the slider.
Finish is textured rather than smooth.
One of four of the screw holes was too big to get any grab when reassembling.
They are overpriced for what you get.

But hey, my headphones are useable again!

Very easy to replace. Tools provided.
Good quality. Different feel than the original one.
Stay in place correctly, but seems to be a bit loose.

This product allowed me to breathe extended life into my WH1000XM2 headphones. I liked that for the same price I could find complete repair kits on eBay, this kit includes replacement screws, a screwdriver, and a plastic pick to aid in separating the parts.

The tolerances on these parts are not as tight as OEM, resulting in a slightly loose fit on the headband. The OEM screws do not work with these replacement parts, which is why screws are included in the kit. There is more flex in the parts with the material used than the OEM plastic, and I have greater confidence that the stress fractures that occurred with the OEM assembly may not happen with these parts.

My headphones are in the gold (or taupe) color. It would have been fantastic if there were replacement parts offered in a near match to this color, but, that is not the case. I see one customer has custom-painted theirs to match the original color. I did not do that and have black on gold.

Why 4 stars and not 5? First, the pick is not as rigid as it could be to allow for "easier" separation of the OEM parts. My pick-point edges bent relatively easily. Second, the tolerance of the assembled parts, while very tight to each other, is not as tight to the headband and results in a slightly larger overall assembly than OEM and a looser fit allowing the cans to have a slight wobble on the headband side-to-side.

I recommend these parts to anyone who needs to repair their still functional headphones so they can be worn once again. If I had additional sets of headphones and they needed to be repaired, I would order this kit again.

Very easy to replace broken sides, video and instructions are very clear and Central sound even provided additional screws as tue original didn’t fit as well. Great repair kit!

Fast overseas delivery, customer friendly service. But mostly, the replacement parts have a better quality than the original ones.

If it weren’t for the repair kit, our headphones would be useless. I just did 20 hours of flying on a long trip and they held up perfectly .

This part was easy to install and gives new life to my headphones. I noticed that the adjustment notches are a little looser than the factory parts, but they still work fine.
