- 4 strips of two-sided tape (included)
You will also need:
- A box cutter, scissors or other sharp tool to remove the old pad
Step-by-Step: How to Replace the Sony WH-1000XM3 Headband Pad
Step 1: Pop off the end cap
Insert the small triangle pry tool into the gap at the end of the headband and push away from the headband. The small plastic cover comes off.
Step 2: Remove the screws
Use the included screwdriver to remove the two screws on each side.
Step 3: Remove the old pad
Cut away the old pad with a box cutter or scissors. Remove the foam and peel off any leftover material on the top and underside.
Tip: A wire runs inside the headband. Be careful not to cut it.
Step 4: Install the bottom piece
Fit the bottom part of the new pad. Make sure the wire is tucked between all the plastic clips.
Step 5: Apply the tape
Apply the four strips of two-sided tape from the kit to prep the top part.
Step 6: Snap the top piece on
Line up the top section and squeeze the two parts together. You’ll hear them snap.
Step 7: Install the new brackets
Use the replacement brackets and screws from the kit on both sides.
Bring the comfort back to your XM3s.
